Basic Configuration: Setting up your Ad Account
Step 1: Create a Facebook Business Page

1. Log into your personal Facebook Profile
2. Click on "Pages" on the left side
3. Click on "Create new Page"
4. Fill in the required information and create the page.
Step 2: Create your Facebook Ads Account
1. Go to Facebook.com/adsmanager
2. Review and accept Facebook's nondiscrimination policies
3. Add a payment method
Step 3: Connect your Facebook account
1. Click on your Connect Platforms tab on the top navigation
2. Tap on "Connect"
3. Enter your Facebook credentials
4. Confirm the Facebook connection (all boxes should be checked)
5. Click on "Select Ad Account" to choose your ad account
6. Click "Done"
Step 4: Launch!
1. Select the Platform and Objective
The most regular starter campaign is the Meta one which covers both Facebook and Instagram placements if you've connected your instagram account.
2. Select your Goal
After selecting the Platform the first button you'll find is the Goal on the top of the generator. For your first campaign you want to keep it simple, run a Traffic campaign if you want to send users towards a specific landing page or an in-facebook Leads campaign if you're looking for prospects.
3. Launch your Facebook Ad
1.Prompt Your Ad - Describe your ad in detail and click on Generate new ad.
2.Review and Select the Creatives - Review the generated ad combinations. You can customize the ad copy, headlines, and descriptions. Finally, select your media (images or videos).
3.Review the Targeting - Review the suggested interests and interest groups, you can customize or add more interests. Specify the geographic locations. Target specific demographics.
4.Launch or Schedule Your Ad - Set your budget. Click on Launch or schedule your ad by tapping on the arrow to the right of the Launch button.
Advanced Configuration: Creating a Facebook Dataset for Audience generation
Step 1: Create a Dataset on Facebook Ads
A dataset on Facebook Ads is essentially a collection of event data that Facebook will use to optimize your ads and create more accurate audiences.
1.Log in to Facebook Business Manager:
Go to Facebook Business Manager and log in with your account credentials.
2.Navigate to the 'Business Settings':
  • From the Business Manager dashboard, click on the settings option (cog icon) in the bottom left corner.
  • Under the "Data Sources" section, click Datasets.
3.Create a New Dataset:
  • Under "Datasets" tap on Add on the top right corner and give it a clear name.
  • Once created, tap on the Connected Assets tab and then on Connect Assets.
  • Choose Other Business Assets and select the correct Ad Account from the selection menu to connect your dataset.
  • Click Add.
Step 2: Connect the Facebook Pixel to Your Website
The Facebook Pixel tracks visitor actions on your website and helps you create more accurate and targeted audiences for your ads.
1.Go to Facebook Events Manager:
  • From the Business Manager dashboard, click on the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) in the top left corner.
  • Under the "Advertise" section, click Events Manager.
2.Install the Facebook Pixel on Your Website:
  • In the Events Manager dashboard, click on Data Sources on the left menu and make sure you're on the correct Dataset (it's the one you created on the previous step).
  • Choose one of the following methods:
    • Manually add the Pixel code to your website: Copy the Pixel base code and paste it in the <head> section of your website’s HTML code on all pages.
    • Use a Partner Integration (e.g., Shopify, WordPress): If you’re using a third-party platform, you can follow their integration guide for installing the Pixel.
    • Use Google Tag Manager: If you use Google Tag Manager, you can add the Pixel code as a new tag in your Tag Manager dashboard.
3.Verify the Pixel is Working:
  • To ensure the Pixel is firing correctly on your site, use the Facebook Pixel Helper Chrome extension to check if the Pixel is active on your pages.
Step 3: Create Audiences Using Your Pixel Date
Now that the Pixel is connected and tracking events on your site, you can create custom audiences based on users' actions.
1.Go to the Meta Launcher on the Advertise tab
  • Within the Targeting section, tap on Retargeting
2.Create a Custom Audience:
  • Click Create Website Audience, then select your Pixel as the source.
  • Define your audience criteria (all website visitors or people who viewed specific pages).
  • Set the time frame for how far back you want to track actions (e.g., last 30 days).
  • Click Create Audience.
3.Use Your Dataset for More Targeted Ads:
  • You can now use the audience as targeting criteria for your ads.
  • If you wish to generate a Lookalike audience, head over to the Lookalike Audience tab and tap on Create Lookalike Audience.
  • Under the Audience Source you will be able to select the recently created Custom Audience.
  • The created audiences will show up on the Retargeting and Lookalike audience tabs. You can also exclude any of these audiences from new campaigns.
